Here is Miss Mattie having breakfast in bed...Her Queen Bee-ness never ceases to amaze us!

Snow Day Photos

We were scheduled to receive 2 BIG storms this week. The first one began last night and the snow continued until about 3 pm today. We got about 8-10 inches! Here are some low-quality pics as Mattie and Fen were having too much fun to look at me for photos.

Days go by

As I sit here, I am at the end of 2 major things. One of them I am happy to be at the end of and the other a bit bummed.

I am overjoyed that our application process is about to be over! We should be active in the next couple of weeks! Our profiles are currently in Indiana, and they are due to arrive on 2/23. I am just so excited to be finally waiting. I started going through all of the baby gear I have been collecting only to realize that I barely have ANY newborn sizes! I am not really sure how this happened, but I am in the process of buying more. We have been talking more and more about our baby, and I just can't wait. All along, I have been feeling that we will have a boy, but lately I am thinking girl. We would love to have one of each, and we would be absolutely thrilled with either gender. The good news is that we are pretty solid on a girl's name, but not quite so sure on a boy's name. I think we still have plenty of time to decide...aka sway D to MY boy name!

I am bummed that Winter Break is over in just a few precious hours. I absolutely LOVE my job, but I also savor my time at home with D, Mattie and Fen. We had a wonderfully relaxing week. I have some photos that I will post later, but we spent some time with family and friends, but most importantly, we spent time together. I really love being married to D. He is just such a great guy and my best friend. We always have a blast no matter what we are doing. It also helps that he is a "cool customer" while I tend to get all stressed out. We are a perfect match!

Valentine's Day

I just realized that I blogged a pic on V-day, but I never wrote about what we did! This year was pretty low key for several reasons, but we enjoyed the day nonetheless. Neither of us are really that into V-day, so we decided to go downtown for a coffee date! It was great to just sit and talk. Then we walked around and shopped for a bit, but it was VERY cold so we didn't stay long. We had John and Jenn over for tacos and Settlers of Catan in the evening. All in all, it was a great day! We are just really happy to be on vacation and to have some down time together.

Day 2 of the diet is going well. I love how SparkPeople gives meal suggestions AND the nutritional information. I am in awe of how many calories I once consumed...it is no wonder I've gained so much weight. This site is really helping me make good food choices AND is teaching me appropriate portion sizes. Sadly, they are MUCH smaller than I am used to. Here's hoping!

One more

Here is the color in day time, and I LOVE IT!

Spark People

I decided to try it. I am fed up with being 12 pounds over my ideal weight. Alas...all the crap I eat no longer falls off easily like it did when I was just a bit younger. Anyway, we will see how long I stick with this. All I know is that I am sick of feeling chubby!

Vacation

We are officially on winter break! It has been a long and cold winter with no recent snow days to speak of. While on one hand, I cannot believe how fast the school year is going, I am so ready for warmer weather.

I have several goals for this week off:
1. clean ***** top priority******
2. organize
3. catch up with friends
4. quality time with D
5. RELAX!

We also talked about painting the nursery this week, and I am hoping that we actually do that. Since we plan to go to NC over April break, we wouldn't have a big chunk of time off again until summer vacation. Crazy, huh? The other catch is that as the weather gets nicer, the golf course will open, and I will be a slave to it for the third summer in a row. Don't get me wrong, it is a really perfect summer job for me in many ways...it's social, fun, great money, and not all that difficult. The drawback is that is takes up all of my weekends and a few of my nights. I think it is worth it, so I will be going back there again.

Another less tangible goal for this vacation is to renew my spirit. I have been feeling stretched to the max since I started night class and tutoring, and now that both of those are winding down, I need to get back some time for me. I haven't sat down to read a book in a while, and I have been slacking on my blog. I feel like I want to hibernate for a bit, and I think it is A-OK to do so!

Out of the closet

I finally told my principal about our adoption plan. I am not good at or comfortable with keeping secrets, especially one that is so exciting! It went very well. The part of not knowing when our baby will arrive may cause some issues, but he said we can work it out. He congratulated us, and wished us good luck. I know it is standard to congratulate a pregnancy, but we are not and it was nice to hear it anyway! I am still keeping it mostly under wraps at school for our own privacy and sanity, but I at least feel that I can start sharing our news with people because my boss knows.

In other news, my grandmother is recovering from her fall. Just over a week ago, she fell and broke her hip in 4 places. She had surgery last Saturday, and she is now living (temporarily, we hope) in a rehab facility. Mattie and I are surprising her with a visit tomorrow!

We have an exciting couple of weeks ahead of us. D turns 29 on Wednesday, my sister J turns 27, and February break begins Friday at 3 pm! So close!!
