18 Months

Wow, it has really been that long. I approach this landmark with a mix of frustration and hope.  Our agency has said that 18 months is the average wait, so it is good that we are here.  The frustrating part is that we pay $250/month in advertising that hasn't produced a match yet.  $4,500.  Ouch.  We re-designed our profile in hopes of a match.  I feel like we have done all we can to move forward, and now we are still, just waiting.

I know I don't talk much about our process, so I thought I would fill you in on what's been happening in our search for a match.  We had some activity back when we first became active in March 2010.  We met with a set of birthparents who ultimately decided to parent.  We were never matched with them, but it was a long 4 months while they tried to make their decision.  Our second set birthparents expressed interest in us in July 2010.  We set up a time to meet, but they backed out prior to meeting us.  Then we had no interest until we received a web inquiry in August 2011.  Unfortunately, she has not responded to the attempts our agency has made to contact her.

This waiting is a tricky business.
