I am a bad blogger

It has been almost a week since I last wrote, and it is because I have been SO busy! It's funny, just when I think I can not possibly get any busier, I do! In addition to my class, I tutor 2 students after school, run the after-school program, and try to work out. The only thing that is working out is that I am flipping tired all the time!

I am excited to say that we received our final profile from our designer, and we LOVE it! Now we are just waiting for feedback from the agency. Hopefully we will hear soon because we are so ready to be active. We are really close, and that feels great!

Nursery Inspiration

Since D gave me FULL design rights to the nursery, I have decided to start collecting ideas! Since we do not (and possibly will not) know the gender of our future child, we have decided to go with green and brown. I like lime green, but D much prefers a sage. Aside from that color caveat, he said I can do WHATEVER I want! Cool!

Here is my inspiration (for now):

Wow...

Where do I even begin?! I may have mentioned in an earlier post that I went back to school to extend my certification for teaching. I am taking 2 amazing classes at Union Graduate College, and I am loving almost every minute of it! Our instructors are fantastic, and I have learned REAL ways to implement new strategies into my class. I have noticed that small changes have made a big difference. I think I appreciate it more than my previous education classes because I have a real frame of reference. Before, the ideas were conceptual and now it all has meaning, if that makes sense. The only thing I do not love are the times and location of the classes. When I leave school on Thursdays, it takes me 65 minutes to get to school. Not to mention that the other class day is Saturday! For someone who is very protective of her weekends, this has been a big adjustment for me. Friday nights no longer hold that "we have 2 days off" feeling, but I think the sacrifice is small and short. Classes end mid-March, and I have 11 more class meetings during that time. We do not have class tomorrow, and I AM SO HAPPY!

I have also picked up 2 tutoring jobs which has added on more work. I am happy for the extra money, and so far the kids have been easy to work with. The timing of the tutoring couldn't be better since the winter months tend to be financially tighter than the golf course months, lol. Plus, we want to bank as much money as we can before our baby arrives so that we can stay home a bit. Speaking of baby, we met with our profile designer and her husband for dinner this week, and I am SO excited to see what she comes up with!

That's all for now, but part of my plan for the long weekend is to do more blogging. I have a busy but fun weekend planned so stay tuned...

Adventures in Vermont

We spent a fabulous New Year's Eve and Day in Essex, Vermont! This is the second year that we have gone there as a vacation from our holiday vacation. The Inn is part of the New England Culinary Institute, and the food is simply amazing. We arrived around 5 pm on New Year's Eve, just in time for dinner. The bad news was that because it was NYE, dinner was by reservation only! We were able to eat at the bar, which I wasn't thrilled about. Dave had a fancy version of chicken parm, and I had a steak with mashed potatoes. For dessert, we split a pumpkin pie creme brulee! There are NO words to describe how delicious this was! While we normally try to watch what we eat, we give ourselves a free pass when we come here! The food is too good to miss. Not surprisngly, we did not stay up until midnight. We spent NYE watching reruns on HGTV and playing the Game of Life!

The next day, we went to breakfast. Those of you who know me know that I LOVE LOVE LOVE the oatmeal that they make. I look forward to it all year, and it was every bit as yummy as I remembered it!

We then headed to the spa for a quick work out and a couple's massage. The massage was included in our package, and we really enjoyed it. We spent some time afterward just hanging out in the "Relaxation Room," and it was so nice. There was also an outdoor hot tub, but neither of us brought our bathing suits. We decided to venture out to Pizza Putt for indoor mini-golf. There are also no words to describe this place! You just had to be there. For dinner that night, Dave ordered beef tenderloin and I ordered halibut with a honey wine sauce. For dessert, we had vanilla cheesecake topped with fresh pears, a berry drizzle, and whipped cream. YUM!

Unfortunately, the weather channels were predicting a bad storm, so we needed to get on the road fairly early. We enjoyed another breakfast, and then we were off. I hope we will return next year for more terrific food and relaxation!
