My Childhood Dream

I came across a writing prompt that instructed me to write a letter to my 10-year old self.

Dear Michelle,

First of all, your current hairstyle and your buck teeth will be the root of many family jokes for years to come. They look terrible. The good news is that you look a lot better as an adult. In fact, your teeth will look stellar. The hair, well, it will look better than it does now. The even better news is that when you are almost 30, you don't care all that much about your looks.

I also have some really good news for you.  I know how badly you want a dog. You have dog calendars and dog books. You love to spend time walking and playing with other people's dogs. The bad news is that you are allergic to dogs. The good news is that you will have 2 amazing dogs when you grow up! They will make the years of waiting SO worth it! They will even be part spaniel, since at this age, Cocker Spaniels are your favorite. You will also continue to be an expert breed identifier.

You will deal with some heavy stuff in the coming years, but you will maintain a good attitude through most of it. Patience is a struggle for you now, and it will be in the future. But as with the dogs, wonderful things come to people who are willing to wait.  Your husband will be perfect for you, and very handsome as well. Your sisters will be the people who know you the best and you will stay close with them no matter what. Relationships within your family will change, but mostly for the better. You will LOVE your job. I don't want to spoil too much by telling you what you will be, but it is something you play a lot!

Keep smiling!
Michelle

Food for thought

Life is about laughing and living, in good and bad times. Getting through whatever comes our way and looking back and smiling.

Where you end up is not the most important thing. It’s the road you take to get there. The road is what you’ll look back on and call your life.

I love this, so I ordered it! It will fit in my classroom perfectly!
It was $9.78 including shipping but excluding the frame.

More Nursery Progress

Over the last few weeks, Dave and I have been doing more nursery preparations. As someone once said, "If you build it, they will come."  We are taking the same approach with our nursery! We are putting all of our hopeful energy into that room in hopes that Baby G joins us soon!

The first new item is our glider. Dave found this on clearance at Walmart for $99:

I love how comfy Sock Monkey and Ellie-phant look!

Next, we built the bassinet.  This was a gift from my parents quite a while ago. Unfortunately, Eddie Bauer no longer makes this bassinet. Once I saw it, I knew our baby had to have it. It is classic cherry wood.  Also, I added a wicker basket underneath with swaddlers and burp cloths.

Finally, I decided to unpack all of the baby clothes that we have been collecting.  Since we don't know if Baby G will be a boy or a girl, we just pick up items that we fall in love with. We have been collecting clothes since we became active, just in case! :-)
